Repair Method For Damaged And Scratched Conveyor Belts

There are two repair methods for conveyor belt scratches based on the damage situation, namely cold vulcanization repair with repair strips and rubber vulcanization repair agent. These two methods are suitable for different types of damage, and appropriate repair methods should be selected based on the damage situation.

The use of repair strips is suitable for situations where the conveyor belt is torn for a long distance and the damaged surface is shallow. This repair method involves applying a layer of repair strips on the damaged surface to avoid further tearing of the wound. During the operation of the conveyor belt, it is inevitable to encounter material scraping and damage. If not repaired in a timely manner, it is easy for the damaged area to continue to expand and the conveyor belt joint to break. So when there is damage, it is necessary to use repair strips in a timely manner to repair it.

Damaged and scratched conveyor belt - Quick repair method for repair strips:

1. Draw a marking line centered around the damaged area, and the marking line should be approximately 2-3cm wider than the damaged area. The size of the repair strip only needs to be consistent with the area marked by the line.

2. It is best to use a high-power low-speed angle grinder in conjunction with a tungsten steel polishing disc to polish the marked areas during polishing. At the same time, it is important to note that the polishing depth should be higher than the thickness of the repair strip, which can prevent the repair strip from being scratched by the cleaner.

3. In order to achieve seamless adhesion between the repair strip and the damaged area, it is necessary to use a cleaning agent to deeply clean and air dry the damaged surface. This can clean the oil and other stains on the rubber surface, thereby enhancing the bonding strength.

4. While waiting for the cleaning agent to dry, the cold vulcanized adhesive and hardener can be mixed together in proportion. Then evenly apply the mixed liquid onto the damaged area and the blue CN layer of the repair strip, and let it air dry until it does not stick to the fingers.

5. When bonding repair strips, use a compaction roller to compact and avoid residual air between the bonding surface and the repair surface.

6. After bonding the repair strip to the repair surface, use a mixture of cold vulcanizing adhesive and hardening agent to brush the connection between the repair strip and the conveyor belt, so that the CN layer at the edge of the repair strip is naturally vulcanized.

The use of rubber vulcanization repair agent is suitable for filling the surface of conveyor belts with local damage, longitudinal tearing of conveyor belts, or V-shaped sealing treatment of roller packaging. Rubber conveyor belt vulcanization repair agents are generally used for repairing rubber layered belts, steel wire conveyor belts, fiber belts, and rubber pipes. Not only does it have a fast repair speed and high repair strength, but it also forms a paste like composite that does not flow and can be applied for repair at any angle.

Damaged and scratched conveyor belt - repair method with rubber vulcanization repair agent:

1. Place the conveyor belt to be repaired in a horizontal position.

2. Grind the area of the conveyor belt to be repaired in a roundabout manner (it is recommended to use a tungsten steel grinding disc or wire brush), and clean the surface after polishing.

3. Mix the two components of rubber repair agent and knead evenly (about 2 minutes).

4. Apply an appropriate amount of rubber repair agent and then smooth it with a scraper. Wait for a few hours until the surface hardens before turning on for use.
